Developed by Richard Rand and with funding from the SITA Trust through the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme the Aerobic Bin Technology was the subject of a twelve month waste management trial from January 2004 in the London Borough of Bexley.

The Bexley trial report was published in September 2005 on the SITA Trust web site at www.sitatrust.org.uk, and introduced to local authority officer audiences at 2005 LARAC Conferences in Wales and Sheffield.

Bexley Council are continuing with the trial collection scheme as a reference site for inspections for the rest of 2005; and from 2006 they propose to trial the bins in schools and restaurants for the collection of organic catering waste.
