Bexley
Trial
Results
- Collection
contractor : Cycle time for emptying aerobic bins consistently shorter than
that of 140 litre bins in use / no residues left in bins / no liquids in base
of bin / no problems of odour / sacks fit for purpose if put out at 4 weeks
instead of 2.
- Compost processor :
No complaints about contrary materials; after problem households dealt with,
virtually zero contraries / paper sacks and bags reported to be good bulking
up material at start of composting process.
- Bexley Council :
Zero telephone calls received to complain about performance, but a few calls
received about sack deliveries.
- Householder : No
need to wash out kitchen / wheeled bin.
- Significant
improvement of kerb-side collection of dry-recyclables noted with adopting of
aerobic system.
- Capture rates better
than conventional wheeled bin and caddie collecting weekly, and crucially less
resistance to diverting kitchen waste.
